Ole' Betty Blue - first camper!

Thanks to Uncle Rick for endearing the newest member of our family and the name of this blog post. The rumors are true, we have a new addition to the little Peep family...

We picked this up in Rapid City for a heck of a deal, or so I hope. She's in fantastic shape, the man "Theron" seems to have taken great care of it and added a few important features like, oh, safety chains. I was like a little kid when we went to look at it. I just kept telling Kyle that 'I'm going to Pinterest the crap out of this thing!" Of course his main concern is that it will be too girly for his hunting trips. Maybe I'll make a set of Real Tree camo curtains for his twice a year hunting rendezvous.

I have been glared at a few times by my understanding husband for bringing home mountains of junk and turning our garage into my hoarding workshop. But, this is the first pick we've found that he's actually excited about. The thing has an air conditioner, I think I just fell in love with camping.

The original owner remodeled the interior with a bunch of cedar, it's beautiful. The fake wood paneling will be my first project. I'm thinking a nice bright creme or white finish against the cedar is going to be awesome. We'll need to figure out how to get a second bed in there, but the best find was underneath the carpet, there is a fabulous originally linoleum that looks like French tile. I love it, can't imagine why anyone would cover it up.

So, to do list:

1. Rip nasty carpet up
2. Maybe replace the mattress, we'll see how it smells
3. Paint the paneling
4. Build some curtains and pillows

Looks like I figured out what I'll be doing the rest of the summer!

  1. Mindy - I have some pillows w/ some pretty blue and green fabric to cover them that I bought to make outdoor pillows when I was more motivated. Then I just bought some. SO if you want the pillow forms and/or the fabric (keep in mind it's outdoor fabric, but still nice) let me know!
