Kyle and I talked long and hard this evening and after much consideration, it is settled. We are now authoring "Peeps in the Woods" and vow to stick with it and keep you updated on whatever is going on in our lives. I once tried sending a Christmas so I could inform everyone of all the great and not so great things that happened over the course of our year. I failed. Miserably. I ended up with a 100 extra cards that still sit in my desk drawer collecting dust to this day. So, here's the solution! Prepare yourselves, here is 2011 in nutshell!
Mindy Joins the L&S Team!
In January 2011, I was offered a great opportunity to transition to a larger agency based out of Sioux Falls. A couple days ago, I celebrated my first work-iversary at Lawrence & Schiller. I'm privileged to work with an impressive group of marketing pros and I'm often humbled by the talent and creativity that flows through my team. Here are a few of them from our annual "Ho-Ho" party that was prohibition themed. Here's to another great year at L&S!
Kyle comes home, for good.
After two summers apart while he worked in Dubois, WY for the Wyoming Game & Fish, Kyle is here to stay in South Dakota. Kyle says he'll miss the big water fly fishing in Wyoming, but we're really looking forward to spending summer days together fishing, cooking and maybe I can even convince him to go to the lake. He starts his new job as a baker at Dakota Thyme in Rapid City next week. I have a feeling I'm going to get seriously plump as he starts this new adventure.
We said goodbye to Glitter
One of the saddest days of my life is when we had to say goodbye to our wonderful cat, Glitter. It's the first time I've ever had anyone in my immediate family (yes, I considered the cat a family member) die and as much as it broke our hearts to put her down, she's no longer in pain and we remember her fondly. We hope to get another kitty in the future, but for now enjoying the clean house without all of the hair sticking to our clothes and friends who come over.
Honeymoon...Finally!
A year and then some after we said "I do", we had finally saved enough to go on our honeymoon to beautiful Costa Rica. For 10 days, I chauffeured Kyle around the western coast, exploring beaches, local "mama y papa" restaurants and even deep sea fishing. I traveled to Costa Rica when I was 15, and though the people have not changed a bit, it sure cost a lot more! We still had fun and I miss the ocean as I always do when I leave it. I love this photo of Kyle in the Cloud Forest. I plan to write a whole post on our adventure so stay tuned.
There's so much more to share, but I'm going to call that a wrap for now. We're excited to share many of the recipes Kyle comes up with this year and a few adventures along the way. Happy 2012 everyone!
I like the name! We drove past Kyles new workplace today and I pointed it out to the kids. They already want to visit him there. Looks like a cool place.
ReplyDeleteKris, you'll have to come by when it's open. From the sounds of it, the food is going to be incredible. Good to see you today, hope baby gets here soon so you can take a deep breath!
DeleteI enjoyed this first blog post! Looking forward to tasting some of those bakery delights the next time we come to visit! I look forward to hearing more about your trip to Costa Rica. Great pic of Kyle in the Cloud Forest.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Clif. I'll be working on the Costa Rica posts in the coming days.
DeleteAwesome blog. I wish I could do something like this, but I feel like I would fail miserable at it, just like you do w/ Christmas cards. We can't wait to read about the "Peeps" every week. Happy writing!
ReplyDeleteJoBo, you could do something like this. The amount of stories that you have about Addison and Lyla could take up a few weeks worth of posts. I miss you, let's skype soon!
